Finding similar colours in the NCS Navigator
Its easy to explore alternative colour selections in NCS+, for example making your colour selection darker, lighter, more chromatic or less chromatic, or to change between two completely different hues.
On mobile
- Click on a colour that you're interested in
- Click on the More actions (three dots) icon in the top right corner
- Click on View in Navigator
- The app now shows you where in the NCS Colour Space your colour is located
- Adjust your selection from either the Colour Space tab or the Nearby Colours tab
- Colour Space: Drag the eye-drop to the position in the nuance triangle you are interested in, or scroll on the surrounding hue circle to move to a new hue. The currently selected hue is the one which is currently at 12 o'clock, indicated with the small downwards facing arrow.
- Nearby Colours: Colours in the same nuance triangle directly adjacent to your currently selected colour are shown in a beehive formation, where
- the colour above has more whiteness and the same chromaticness
- the colour in the top right corner has more whiteness and more chromaticness
- the colour in the bottom right corner has more blackness and more chromaticness
- the colour below has more blackness and more chromaticness
- the colour in the bottom left corner has more blackness and less chromaticness
- the colour in the top left corner has more whiteness and less chromaticness
On Web
- Click on a colour that you're interested in
- Click on the Navigator icon in the top left corner
- The app now shows you where in the NCS Colour Space your colour is located
- Adjust your selection from either the Colour Space tab or the Colour Palette tab
- Colour Space: Click on any colour in the nuance triangle that you want to move to. Note that the colour in the left side panel changes as you hover over any new colour to show you the currently selected colour and the new colour that you are hovering over. You change hue by either clicking on your wanted hue in the hue circle or use the left and right arrows to move clockwise or counter-clockwise in the hue circle.
- Colour Palette: The Colour Palette shows you a grid layout of all NCS 2050 colours, where hues are arranged as columns starting from yellow (Y) and ending with neutrals (N). Every row indicates a new nuance step. The currently selected hue and nuance are indicated in bold and with line markers.
- Tip: You can sort the colour palette based on blackness, whiteness and chromaticness.
